Job Description

Medical Director – Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)

Shared Health is seeking an experience and compassionate physician to join our team as a Medical Director, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID). This leadership role provides clinical, administrative and educational oversight to ensure high-quality, patient-centered MAID services across Manitoba.

Qualifications:

  • Holds, or eligible for, full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM).
  • Holds, or eligible for, medical staff appointment at Shared Health
  • Maintains medical liability coverage with CMPA, or equivalent liability insurance

Experience:

  • Active or previous clinical practice with experience as a MAID assessor and provider
  • Experience in an administrative role is an asset
  • Experience with end of life care and/or life limiting illnesses an asset
  • Experience with providing medical education an asset

Education:

  • Completion of medical residency from an accredited education instutation
  • Palliative care fellowship is an asset
  • Education/training in health care administration an asset

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated skills in cooperative inter-professional collaboration
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to enhancing leadership and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with all members of the healthcare team, external partners and agencies
  • A thorough understanding and willingness to support the role of the Health Authoirty in healthcare policy and regulations
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management and medical ethics

Compensation:

This is a contracted position funded at $150,000 per annum.
